In the wake of the financial crisis, the new Minister of Economy and Industry, Brian Mikkelsen (The Conservative Party) must implement some significant reforms for the Danish industry. President of the Danish Chamber of Commerce (Danske Erhverv), Poul Erik Pedersen, is looking forward to get some “fresh blood”.
The Minister must make the pie grow. This requires reforms within the terms of business and innovation. I hope the Minister will understand that and be able to give some answers,
says Poul Erik Pedersen.
He believes it is important that Danes should gain confidence again that we can become a growth country.
- What is needed now is to create confidence to have growth again, so there will be something to share. The optimism and belief that there is a light at the end of the tunnel is the key, says Poul Erik Pedersen.
Deputy Managing Director of The Confederation of Danish Industry (Dansk Industri) Ole Krog also looks forward to the renewal of the sector.
The first and most important challenge is to create growth in Denmark, so that we can afford to pay for our welfare. We look forward to focusing on the business environment needed to ensure a private production in DK,
says Ole Krog.
- We hope it will be possible for the Minister to ensure that we do not get too many changes in the business framework, so that we have the opportunity to work ourselves out of the current crisis in this area, too.
The Danish Bankers Association (Finansrådet) invites Brian Mikkelsen to find a good regulation of the banking sector. If he tightens too hard, banks will have difficulty in providing the Danes loans.
Brian Mikkelsen’s biggest challenge is to find the right regulatory measures to strengthen the financial sector without undermining the conditions for economic growth,
says Jørgen A. Horwitz.
