Since the launch of the new program series, The Danish Academy (Danskernes Akademi) on Danish television station DR2 on January 11, it is possible to learn in a variety of topical and socially relevant issues in everything from psychology and history to health and technology.
According to Berlingske DR2’s channel director Arne Notkin, was inspired from websites like www.ted.com which show small clips from university lectures.
The People’s University on TV
In collaboration with a wide range of the country’s universities and knowledge institutions DR2 has created a sort of “People’s University on TV” which will “spoil” the Danes with good and exciting knowledge. The Academy broadcasts every Monday to Thursday at 14-16h during 15 weeks and again in the fall semester.
From the program can be mentioned (all in Danish):
- Family-owned Businesses by Professor Morten Bennedsen, INSEAD
- Cloud formations by meteorologist Jesper Theilgaard, DR
- The history of Ballet by Karen Vedel, PhD in Theatre Science
- Aging and anti-aging by professor Kaare Christensen, SDU
- Theme day on the welfare state
