Last summer Google’s small red Street View car was busy touring Denmark to take pictures from the streets of the Danish roads. Today Google launches the Danish version of Street View.
Street View is designed to make it easier to find your way, when you are at street level, than with a map. With Street View, it is possible to navigate before visiting a specific address. Street View works by having photographers from Google drive around in special cars, and sometimes on bicycles, equipped with 360-degree photo equipment and GPS. This makes it possible to see a 360 degree panorama from each street visited by Google.
Street View has been met with mixed reactions. In todays TV programs various photos from the service have been used to show examples of people caught in awkward situations, although it takes place at the public street.
However, interesting purposes are suggested and shown by case in other countries, such as promoting your business, showing real estate listings, showing the location of a news story, or scouting event locations. How to use the Google Street View
Street view works, either by
- using the closest zoom level in Google Maps (to see the images you must drag the orange icon in the map’s right side into a field marked in blue), or by
- clicking “more…” in the left side of the display (you must have entered a street or address in the search field), and then clicking “Street View”.
You can move up and down the streets or look around in a 360 degree panoramic angle.
Availability
The service is now available in the U.S., Japan, Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. More information through Google’s own introductory site.
