Online Manager – VisitDenmark, New York

VisitDenmark North America seeks an Online Manager to join their high-performing team of professionals in New York City promoting Denmark as a tourism and travel destination on the US market. They offer an exciting position in the dynamic and constantly evolving tourism industry, working in one of the most interesting cities in the world.

Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for many aspects of the organization’s communication with North American tourists. You will be responsible for the US and Canadian versions of the world-wide VisitDenmark web portal (visitdenmark.com), the yearly tourism and branding publication Denmark Magazine, as well as new media campaigns.

The goal of the position is to maximize the appeal of and interest in Denmark through our website and other online channels including new social media, and thereby contribute to increasing the number of North American visitors to Denmark.

We are looking for a creative person who is internet and tech savvy, and who is skilled at and enjoys communication and research as well as working with both existing and new marketing tools and channels. The position is challenging and rewarding and requires the ability to quickly learn new tasks, to multitask and to adapt to changing industry trends and a variety of job requirements. It will suit someone who has a sound knowledge of social media and other online channels, who has an innovative mindset with the ability to generate new ideas, and who is structured with a strong eye for detail.

Project coordination and communication skills are required. The job involves close cooperation with the other departments at the New York office – including Leisure/Marketing, Meeting Industry and Press/PR – as well as with our head office in Copenhagen, our clients, partners and external vendors. The job entails some travel to Denmark.

The following responsibilities and priorities are important elements of the job:

  • Updating, maintaining and developing the US and Canadian versions of the VisitDenmark web portal in close cooperation with the New York managers for the three business areas and our headquarters’ online department
  • Developing a strategy for the web portal and implementation
  • Coordinating and distributing e-newsletters to tourists, meeting planners, travel trade and the American media
  • Planning and coordinating all social media campaigns
  • Overall responsible for the office’s CRM system
  • Primary contact to the online media department and IT department at the head office in Copenhagen

The ideal candidate will have the following profile:

  • Attention to detail and ability to create a visual pleasing and user-friendly website communicating our messages in the most efficient way is a must
  • A profound knowledge of IT technology and Windows as well as Outlook
  • Previous experience with CMS is a plus
  • Previous experience with CRM is a plus
  • A person with a creative mind
  • A quick leaner
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with the new social media area is an advantage
  • Knowledge of the Danish/Scandinavian culture will be beneficial
  • Fluency in English – oral as well as written
  • Fluency in Danish / Scandinavian language – oral and written

The position is considered local US employment and is not a foreign posting.

The salary is based on qualifications and experience, and the package includes 5 weeks holiday, pension and health insurance.
